Taylor Technologies R-0002-C, Taylor Tech No.2 Reagent DPD Liquid for Swimming Pool, 2-Ounce, As Shown

The Key to Unlocking Total Chlorine and Combined Chlorine Levels

The Taylor R-0002-C DPD Reagent #2 is an essential chemical component for professional-grade water testing in Taylor's DPD-based liquid test kits. This 2-ounce high-volume refill is specifically formulated to work in conjunction with R-0001-C, allowing you to measure Total Chlorine. When used as part of the FAS-DPD testing method, this measurement is crucial for calculating Combined Chlorine—the irritating chloramines that cause "pool smell" and eye irritation.

Key Features & Benefits:

  • Reveals Hidden Sanitation Problems: While R-0001-C measures Free Chlorine (the active sanitizer), adding R-0002-C allows you to measure Total Chlorine. The difference between the two reveals the level of Combined Chlorine (chloramines), which indicates the presence of contaminants and reduced sanitizer effectiveness.

  • Critical for Effective Shock Treatment: By accurately determining Combined Chlorine levels, you know precisely when and how much to shock your pool. This ensures you break down irritants and restore the full power of your chlorine, leading to a more comfortable swimming experience and cleaner water.

  • Professional-Grade Reliability & Value: The 2-ounce (R-0002-C) size provides a larger, more economical supply for frequent testers and professionals, ensuring you never run out during the peak season. It is manufactured to the highest standards for consistent, drop-by-drop accuracy.

  • Maintains Test Kit Integrity: This is a direct refill for the R-0002 reagent supplied in your Taylor test kit. Replacing consumed or expired reagents is essential for maintaining the accuracy and reliability of your entire water testing system. Taylor recommends replacing this reagent annually.

How It Is Used (in a DPD Test Block):

  1. Free Chlorine Test: Add pool water to the test cell. Add 5 drops of R-0001-C, swirl, and immediately compare the resulting pink color to the comparator for your Free Chlorine reading.

  2. Total Chlorine Test: To the same sample, add 5 drops of R-0002-C, swirl, and compare the new color to the comparator. This is your Total Chlorine reading.

  3. Calculate Combined Chlorine: Subtract the Free Chlorine reading from the Total Chlorine reading. The result is your Combined Chlorine level.

Important Note: This product is a chemical reagent refill for use with specific Taylor liquid test kits (e.g., K-2005, K-2006) that utilize the DPD method. It is not a standalone product and must be used with R-0001-C as part of a complete test procedure.

Ideal For:

  • Pool and Spa Service Professionals

  • Owners of Taylor DPD/FAS-DPD test kits (K-2005, K-2006 series)

  • Commercial pool operators

  • Any pool owner seeking to eliminate chloramines and optimize sanitation
